Over the past few years, Drake has been unbeatable as he continuously tops the charts and sells millions of album copies to his fans, but this year was a bit different as he was dethroned by Taylor Swift and even lost $1 million; What happened?
Billboard placed Drake number five on its list of “The Biggest Pop Stars of 2022” for maintaining his legendary status this year.
During the first half of the year, the rapper appeared in many collaborative tracks with other musicians such as “P power” with Gunna, “Churchill Downs” with Jack Harlow”, “Wait For U” with Future, and many others.
Although he just released new music in 2021 with his ‘Certified Lover Boy’ album, fans were surprised when he started teasing a new project in June this year after posting a photo on Instagram titled “Honestly, Nevermind”.
The album was immediately released the next day and no one saw it coming.
Drake explored the genre of house music in his new album and it received mixed reactions from fans, nevertheless, it still topped the charts as it secured the number one spot on the charts after selling 204,000 units of equivalent album, making it her 11th number one album.
During the fourth quarter of 2022, Drake steadily released more music dropping “Her Loss”, a collaborative project with 21 Savage.
Although the record was a hit, the rapper’s new era also became controversial after he faked magazine covers and interviews to promote the album.
Their fake cover of Vogue magazine led them to face a “flagrant infringement” lawsuit from Condé Nast.

According to Uproxx, many fans became concerned when the ‘Take Care’ hitmaker announced he would bet on Argentina vs France for the World Cup final.
The country won, but Drake eventually lost the money due to a technicality by betting that Argentina would get their victory before halftime, but France were able to score the goal before the penalty shootout.
As of this writing, Drake has yet to announce any new music for the upcoming year.
