blog editor [Freelance] – Pedestrian jobs

Authoritarian. is a Melbourne-based studio + creative writing school that has been pushing words since 2016. Our studio specializes in tone-of-voice development, website copy, digital content, social copy and all things words. Our podcast (The Bossy. Type) and course (Bossy. Copy College) teach people how to write for themselves.

We have an in-house team of five and some epic freelancers that we work with on a regular basis. With an increase in blog content, we are looking for a freelance blog writer who can join our team (remotely).

How it works:

This is a remote freelance role which means you can be based anywhere and wear your pajamas while you work. As a resident blogger, we update you on new digital content, providing you with all the information you need, the time frame and an allocated budget (based on an hourly rate which we will discuss during the interview phase). Some blogs will be on a rolling monthly basis, while others will be ad hoc – as it will depend on the workload, some times will be busy and others not so much. For this reason, we recommend that you apply if you are looking to complete other work.

What we need:

We’re looking for a talented, experienced and versatile blog writer who can change voice and write for a wide range of clients, from sassy celebrants to educational governments to high-end shopping malls.

You have:

  • 3+ years of experience as a writer/editor
  • A creative writing style and thought process, so you can think of interesting angles and write texts that our clients couldn’t
  • SEO experience, including knowledge of increasing Google rankings, brainstorming topics, and keyword weaving
  • The ability to gather or tease information, speak with clients, seek additional information, action feedback, and interpret briefs (even when there isn’t much to work with )
  • All the usual essentials, including: spectacular time management, attention to detail, and (obviously, but here we go) spelling and grammar skills

To apply:

Email Alyce at alyce@bossycreative.com with:

  • Your CV,
  • A brief explanation (love letter) of why you are a good candidate for Bossy. and what you can bring to the table and,
  • A handful of your best or favorite samples of blogs, articles, and digital content

Applications close February 30. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete three quick writing tasks. Although we would be happy to respond to everyone personally, unfortunately only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
